    Today’s Open Air Broadcast

MicrophoneDon’t forget to tune in today at 3 p.m. for another new broadcast of Open Air With Tom Remington. Today’s show I talk about the wolf in western Massachusetts that a sheep farmer killed last fall for killing his sheep. Tests revealed the animal to be a “pure” wolf.

I also share some facts about wolf and predator management in Alaska.

If you haven’t heard it yet, I play the audio rendition of “The Obamaman Can” and last but not least, today’s ramblings about global warming is about the International Climate Conference that just took place this past weekend in New York that nobody knew about because the media doesn’t want to discuss facts about global warming. As a matter of fact, the media is beginning to call the 200-plus world renowned scientists who attended this symposium, “Flat Earth Society” types.

As George Will said, the only reason that people would consider a topic closed to discussion is based in fear of hearing something you don’t want to.

    Tune in at 3 today.

    Today’s “Open Air” Radio Broadcast

MicrophoneIt’s time for another Skinny Moose Radio broadcast of Open Air With Tom Remington. Today’s show is interesting, at least I think it is. With all the hype and rhetoric being slung from state to state during this primary election season, we all are hearing from all the candidates about hope and change. The first segment of the show I talk about hope, change and faith and how none of these are much good if not implemented with individual action.

After that, I rag on NASCAR for a bit expressing my dislike of the very boring Daytona 500. Aside from the last minute of the race, which as a result of Tony Stewart making a bad decision, allowing Ryan Newman to win the race, what happened anyway? YAWN!

I share with listeners how they can help out 200 music students at Noble High School in southern Maine by purchasing a raffle ticket or twenty for a guided Maine black bear hunt, or use it as a photo opportunity.

And never fear! For those who were just hoping, yes, I have some more information on global warming. Information I think you really want to hear.

So, tune in today at 3:00 p.m. Click this link and then click on the “Listen in Live Now” button.

    Today’s Open Air Broadcast

MicrophoneDon’t forget to tune in today at 3 p.m. for another brand new episode of “Open Air With Tom Remington”. Today’s show I talk about Valentines Day, tell a few Valentines jokes and a Valentine story not so funny from Saudi Arabia. I also spend some time giving you information about the construction of what is hoped to be the world’s tallest snow woman being built in my hometown of Bethel, Maine, site of the 1999 world’s tallest snowman named Angus, King of the Mountain. Angus measured just over 113 feet and the new snow woman is planning to be substantially taller.

I also have some other little tidbits of information, some news and yes, another update on some global warming issues.

Tune in at 3 p.m. today.

And hey, if you haven’t done it yet, go over to the Skinny Moose Radio site and download our Skinny Moose Media toolbar. The search function is powered by Google and there are no gimmicks or tricks to having it. Some toolbars unknowingly to the user force you to accept pop-up ads, etc. Not this one and what’s really great about this toolbar is that it has the Skinny Moose Radio player built right in. So, when you want to listen to any of our broadcasts, it’s an easy click of a button.

Not only that but you can also have instant access to all of the Skinny Moose Media blogs throughout our great network, all with a simple click of the mouse.

Open Air With Tom Remington Feb. 7, 2008 Broadcast

MicrophoneI know this is late getting up, but for anyone who might have missed last weeks show, you can click on the player below and stream the audio now.

Last weeks show mostly covered Allstate Insurance’s request to raise insurance rates to Florida homeowners by 42% because of global warming. I have said for some time that there are many dangers to us by simply jumping on the global warming bandwagon even if science doesn’t know.

Candidate John McCain has repeatedly stated that he sees no harm in promoting global warming. This is just one example of how people are exploiting the myths of global warming in order to rape the public of money through taxation and increased fees. It seems every price increase is now tied to global warming.

    Learn more about it.

    Open Air With Tom Remington

MicrophoneEarlier this week, Allstate of Florida appeared before a committee in Tallahassee seeking to raise its rates they charge Florida homeowners by 41%. The reason for the increase they say is because of the projected future effects of global warming. Tune in today at 3 p.m. and I’ll explain exactly what Allstate said, what their thinking is and what they are planning to do about it. I will also share scientific information about global warming, the real science behind the relationship of global warming and hurricanes and spend some time talking about the upcoming mini ice age many scientists are now saying will encompass the globe in the near future.

If you can’t tune in at 3 p.m. every Thursday, you can visit the Skinny Moose Radio home page and download all of the recorded shows.

Listen To Yesterday’s Recorded Live Broadcast Of Open Air With Tom Remington

MicrophoneYesterday, I attempted my first ever live broadcast of Open Air With Tom Remington. I didn’t think it was going to happen for most of the morning as it seemed I was having one technical failure after another but I finally pulled it off……as it was.

The show is a bit different than other shows in that there are no breaks for commercials or station IDs during the one-hour plus broadcast. I talked with John Stabley, V.P. of Global Operations for Skinny Moose Media, who is attending the Archery Trade Associations trade show in Indianapolis now through Saturday. He gives us an update on the show and how things are going for him.

Other highlights of the show include discussion of some of the continued budget problems at the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and an introduction to Bill Moore’s radio broadcast on a local Upper Peninsula sports radio station.

I also spend some time discussing the economic impact hunting, fishing and recreation has on this country with its millions of participants, yet never any mention of these topics with presidential candidates.

    Plus a couple of surprises.

Below is the audio player where you can click and stream audio right now as you read more of the Black Bear Blog or just browsing about the Internet. And for those of you who may not have the time now, visit the Open Air download page and find every show that has been done. You can stream audio of each show now or download it to your media player and listen at your leisure.

Open Air With Tom Remington Will Broadcast Live

*Program Note: Although we are experiencing a few technical glitches, I intend to broadcast live today at 3 p.m. I hope you’ll tune in.*

MicrophoneI wanted to alert readers and listeners that on Thursday, January 10, 2008 at 3 P.M., I will make every attempt at broadcasting a live episode of Open Air With Tom Remington. This will be a first for us and one that I hope goes smoothly. It takes a few more hands, of which my two will be the only ones, to pull off a live broadcast rather than a prerecorded one.

I would like to give you a little heads up about the glitches with a live broadcast. Due to technical limitations of which I/we have no control over, there are problems when we switch from recorded programming to live and/or back the other way. When this happens anyone who is tuned in to Skinny Moose Radio will get dropped and they will have to log back in. This is an inconvenience for some I realize but one that I think can be dealt with. To help alleviate the problem, Steven and I will switch from recorded programming to live broadcasting about 5 or 10 minutes prior to 3 P.M. This way if you tune in at 3 o’clock for the show, we will have already made the switch and you won’t even know about it. Unfortunately, those listening at that time will get dumped.

To remain in live broadcast mode, which we could do, requires at least one of us to dedicate our computers to providing programming which somewhat ties up our Internet connections. We aren’t prepared to do that at this time. So, for shows we opt to do live, we will just make the switch and deal with it.

We will have to hone our skills at plugging in ads and station IDs on the fly so I hope those transitions go well. We also plan to record the show as it is being broadcast and will continue to make that show available to you as a podcast, streaming audio or downloads.

As we work out the bugs, we also hope to be able to handle telephone calls so listeners can call into the show with questions or comments. I will let you know when that happens.

Content for tomorrow’s show is constantly changing but plans right now are to talk about changes taking place with my work, events going on and various other announcements. The major part of the show I think will be spent talking about the huge economic and political impact hunters, fishermen and general outdoor fun seekers have in this country, yet no attention is given us during any of the political campaigns.

So tune in for these and probably some other surprises and embarrassments.
