VOTE!!!!!!!!!

Yea I know this is not the typical subject matter of a Flytying site. But this is AFT and it is my site!! Now you may not agree but Maine is embroiled in a legal/moral issue. Just like seperation of church and state. What you do in your bedroom is your business. When your morals or lack of them are shoved in my face I will speak out. Homosexuality is a life choice. It’s the perogative of the participants. Not “nature” by any means. The same argument for homosexuality could be made for masturbation. The innner drive for sexual expression and personal discovery.

So why are we granting them special exceptions and rights? Would we feel the same way about men who love sheep? Or women who love zuchinis? They aren’t hurting anyone but themselves. GET REAL!!!!

If we are to decide the moral direction of the populace……we couldn’t. Generations of people have tried. It does not work!!! In this country you are free to be your self. But do not expect the general population to support you in this “lifestyle”. Unless you are prepared to have the society stay in your bedroom. These “freedoms” you seek will in time actually lead to the erosion of freedoms. Allowing the government to get involved in Moral issues is not smart. If I can not pray to my God in School or say the pledge of allegiance to my country. Why should the government now allow sexually deviant behavior become acceptable. Why is religious freedom trampled over in the name of freedom, but perversion is accceptable behavior.

WE HAVE THE CHANCE NOW TO VOTE YES ON 1…….repeal this law and stop the erosion here and now!!
I’ll spare you the quips and jibes about this being Vacationland…not Fairyland. (Ok couldn’t help it.) We can not afford to allow any group to be singled out for “more” freedoms. We are all free!! Free to live as we choose and believe as we choose as well…… and this is me choosing to print this. An exercising of “my” Constitutional right to free speech and freedom of the press. If you have a differing opinion…..post it here! But remember I reserve the “Special Right” to edit comments…..as needed.

What do tye for fall fishing??

In Aroostook County our fishing has come to an end in August…….to return momentarily in September. A week or two of less than stellar action, most anglers just skip. Low water has heated the rivers and streams to the point that it’s more like bath water than fish water. The coming of September is cooling time. Fishing for the freezer legally ceases at month’s end. But a few die-hards stick it out and fish through the “Catch and Release” season through October and into December.

Fishing comes back to life in October and into November, the spawning season! Brookies seem to know that food is about to run out and they eat ravinously. Bugs are gone as the frosts come and the “Bens 100″ gets put away for the year. The water rises with the fall rains and spring-like floods are common. The conditions are a challenge most can not handle. But a few of us have learned the tricks and techniques of fall. The “Czech Nymphing” and the streamer dashes of “Feeding Frenzy”. The “Dead Drift” and the “Dragonfly Skitter”.

This is the days of deep water fishing and dredging for Spawners and prespawners. Every spring hole of depth hides a fat brookie who seeks a mate for the gravel bar shuffle. They are far less selective than in the spring or early summer. But are still brookies and will not hit just anything. My favorite flies all have white in them and a touch of orange. The best fly I have ever used is a wet fly called “Trout Fin”. These fall fish love to eat there own it seems. This cannibal pattern is highly effective if you target brown trout as well. I fish these flies in tandems. I select a bright colored nymph, beadhead or flashback. To which I add the “Trout Fin” or similar pattern. Now I keep them about a foot apart, and no more. These flies are drifted through the selected holes and do a great job of pulling the cooled water brookies out of their holes.
